Tumescent liposuction is a solution of bicarbonate, epinephrine and lidocaine mixed in a normal saline solution. The solution will be designed specifically for you and adjusted to your body weight and make up as an anesthetic procedure designed to keep you safe and comfortable during your contouring procedure. Another benefit of tumescent liposuction is that it reduces the chances of bleeding. At all times with tumescent liposuction you will be awake and breathing on your own. Twilight sedation is available and may be performed by certified anesthetists for those patients who may wish to be less aware of the procedure.

Once you are comfortable, a cannula (a small hollow surgical instrument) will be inserted into a small incision in the treatment area. The cannula is then moved back and forth in the treated area removing the unwanted fat through a suction technique. At all times, the attending surgeon and surgical staff will monitor the patient closely for fat removal and fluid loss.

Liposuction is not a procedure for everyone. The experienced and specially trained surgeons at Allure Laser Center want to be clear that liposuction is not a form of weight loss surgery. It is procedures that can safely and effectively help you to contour those difficult areas on your body into a new and slimmer you. The best candidate for successful liposuction would be the patient in good general health, non-smoker who is close to their ideal body weight who have areas on their body that are resistant to diet and exercise. Some patients who may be higher than their ideal body weight or a more dense level of fat concentration may require multiple treatments.
